TIFF Nexus project lead takes home Audience Choice prize from IndieCade

Big congratulations are in order for Jim and Emilie McGinley of Bigpants Games and their 3D game The Depths to Which I Sink, which took home the Audience Choice Award at this year’s IndieCade in Culver City, California. Emilie McGinley is also the co-project leader of the TIFF Nexus creative jam The Peripherals Initiative with David Bouchard and Jim McGinley is contributing to the project as an advisor.

Bigpants‘ “Depths” uniquely requires anaglyph glasses to play, and not merely to augment the graphics. Tasked with navigating a ball through a white void peppered with hollow tubes, moving walls and smashable windows, the player is forced to consider the Z-axis, as much as X and Y in order to succeed.

Canada was further represented among the IndieCade finalists with Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP, Fez and Sissy’s Magical Ponycorn Adventure making the cut. Sword and Sworcery and Fez also took home awards for Best Visuals and the coveted Best In Show respectively.
